- Confirm client brief and budget
- Mark up design concepts on drawings
- Present to client and Architect
- Collaborate with client and architect to select the best options

Preliminary Design
- Develop best-case-scenario solution, as well as back-up options
- Discuss project with fire service
- Collaborate with other design team members to solve problems
- Carry out preliminary calculations and computer modelling
- Prepare a fire engineering brief for stakeholder and regulatory review

Developed Design
- Update calculations and computer modelling
- Prepare plans showing fire ratings and egress routes
- Prepare fire engineering design report
- Present design to team members to ensure the design is understood

Detailed Design
- Fine-tune design as required
- Prepare compliance documentation, including a fire engineering design report, drawings
- Prepare fire protection system designs and specifications
- Review other design team members’ documentation for compliance with the fire design

Construction
- Construction monitoring
- Review contractor shop drawings and submittals
- Attend site meetings

Sign Off
- Issue Producer Statement to confirm construction complies with the design
- Client feedback survey
- Internal project debrief to share learnings
